Chris LuandDevin 277c9809c8 ci: skip setup-go cache on self-hosted runners (#11985)
* ci: skip setup-go cache on self-hosted runners

The module cache is already local on a persistent self-hosted runner;
archiving ~/go/pkg/mod into cache.tzst at every job's end is pure cost
and can stall (a ~4-minute zstdmt hang was observed on awscli-tests).
runner.environment gates the cache to GitHub-hosted runners only.

* ci: gate the remaining setup-go caches too

The first pass only covered go-version-file steps; go-version steps in
nine workflows (including awscli-tests' own file) kept uploading the
cache archive on self-hosted runners.

Chris LuandDevin f7af816ab4 ci: cancel superseded workflow runs on PR pushes (#11979)
* ci: cancel superseded workflow runs on PR pushes

PR-triggered workflows without a concurrency group keep running (and
holding runner slots) after a force-push or quick follow-up commit
supersedes them. Add the same group/cancel-in-progress block the go
workflow already uses, keyed on head_ref, to the remaining PR workflows.

* ci: key concurrency groups on PR number or ref, not head_ref

github.head_ref is empty on tag pushes and manual runs (every run then
shares one group and cancels the last) and collides across forks when
two PRs share a branch name. pull_request.number is unique per PR;
github.ref covers push/tag/dispatch. Applied to all workflows using the
pattern, including pre-existing ones.

* ci: restrict cancel-in-progress to PR and branch-push runs

* ci: serialize container_latest manual runs by destination tag

Two workflow_dispatch runs sharing an image_tag could otherwise build
concurrently: their per-arch images publish to the same platform tags,
so one run's create-manifest job can combine platforms from different
source refs. Group dispatch runs by the destination tag (with
cancel-in-progress already disabled for non-PR/non-branch events) so
same-tag publishes queue instead of interleaving.

* ci: serialize manual publish runs by destination tag in remaining container workflows

* ci: group foundationdb release dispatch runs by release tag

A manual run now shares the tag-push concurrency group for the same
release, so a re-publish of a tag queues behind (or ahead of) the push
run instead of racing it on the same image tag.

* ci: serialize foundationdb_version dispatch runs by destination tag

Two manual runs resolving to the same docker tag now share a concurrency
group (explicit image_tag, else the computed
foundationdb_<fdb>_seaweedfs_<ref> default), so they queue instead of
racing pushes to the same tag.

* ci: drop unsupported toLower() from foundationdb_version concurrency group

* ci: key rocksdb_version dispatch group on its published tag

* ci: queue publish runs via turnstyle instead of cancel-free shared groups

* Revert "ci: queue publish runs via turnstyle instead of cancel-free shared groups"

This reverts commit 039148f8d5.

* ci: queue same-tag publish runs instead of replacing the pending one

Dispatch/tag-only workflows can never cancel in progress, so opt their
concurrency groups into queue: max — up to 100 same-tag publishes wait
in line rather than each new dispatch cancelling the pending one.

Chris Lu 1c926e8fac test: systematic EC interruption verification — exhaustive model check + deterministic kill matrix (#10764)
* ec: bounded-exhaustive model check of the volume lifecycle

The randomized chaos harness samples the state space; this enumerates
it. The lifecycle is a state machine whose steps mirror the pipelines in
this package, and the checker explores every schedule within the bound:
a crash at every step boundary, an error return running the rollback
(itself crashable at every step), a volume-server restart applying the
startup reconciliation rules in every quiescent state, and the
prescribed restart-based recovery from every crashed state.

Checked in every reachable state: durability (a readable copy always
exists), at most one generation mounted, and — a property the sweep
discipline turns out to guarantee — at most one generation's files on
disk. From every quiescent state the recovery must converge to a clean
volume. Runs in well under a second.

* test: deterministic EC interruption matrix

Enumerate every phase of every interruptible EC operation and kill a
real weed shell exactly when the phase announces itself on the command
output, instead of at a random moment: four encode phases, four decode
phases, and the balance's move phase (set up with -rebalance=false so a
move is guaranteed). Each scenario prepares its precondition, kills at
the marker, runs the prescribed recovery, and verifies every stored byte
still reads back identical.

The interruption recoveries move out of the randomized ops into shared
chaosRun helpers both drivers use.

* test: make the randomized EC chaos walk opt-in

The systematic layers — the interruption matrix and the lifecycle model
check — carry the CI coverage deterministically; the randomized walk
stays for exploratory runs, behind EC_CHAOS_SEED.

* ci: bound the EC integration suite by the job budget, not go test's default

The suite with the interruption matrix runs close to the default 10m
binary timeout on slower runners.

* test: require every interruption-matrix marker to appear

A marker that never prints means a pipeline refactor renamed or dropped
the progress line; silently degenerating into a no-interruption run
would let CI pass without exercising the boundary the scenario names.
Also recheck the marker channel after the wait: a shell that prints and
exits at once makes both channels ready, and select picking the exit
case must not report a printed marker as missed.

Chris Lu d6da0e0e13 ci: only run heavy workflows when related paths change
Add path filters to workflows that fired on every PR/push regardless
of the diff: CodeQL, go build, the e2e/EC/vacuum/TLS/plugin-worker
integration suites, the Kafka and Postgres gateways, the S3 suites
(Ceph s3tests, s3-go, s3-tables, proxy-signature, https, example,
filer-group), TUS, and the dev binary/container builds. Each scopes
to its subsystem under weed/, its test dir, go.mod/go.sum, and the
workflow file, so docs-, helm-, terraform-, rust- or java-only
changes no longer trigger a full compile-and-test fleet.

Chris Lu 15ca301e43 Fix flaky EC integration tests by collecting server logs on failure (#7969)
* Fix flaky EC integration tests by collecting server logs on failure

The EC Integration Tests were experiencing flaky timeouts with errors like
"error reading from server: EOF" and master client reconnection attempts.
When tests failed, server logs were not collected, making debugging difficult.

Changes:
- Updated all test functions to use t.TempDir() instead of os.MkdirTemp()
and manual cleanup. t.TempDir() automatically preserves directories when
tests fail, ensuring logs are available for debugging.
- Modified GitHub Actions workflow to collect server logs from temp
directories when tests fail, including master.log and volume*.log files.
- Added explicit log collection step that searches for test temp directories
and copies them to artifacts for upload.

This will make debugging flaky test failures much easier by providing access
to the actual server logs showing what went wrong.

* Fix find command precedence in log collection

The -type d flag only applied to the first -name predicate because -o
has lower precedence than the implicit AND. Grouped the -name predicates
with escaped parentheses so -type d applies to all directory name patterns.

Chris Lu 4f038820dc Add disk-aware EC rebalancing (#7597)
* Add placement package for EC shard placement logic

- Consolidate EC shard placement algorithm for reuse across shell and worker tasks
- Support multi-pass selection: racks, then servers, then disks
- Include proper spread verification and scoring functions
- Comprehensive test coverage for various cluster topologies

* Make ec.balance disk-aware for multi-disk servers

- Add EcDisk struct to track individual disks on volume servers
- Update EcNode to maintain per-disk shard distribution
- Parse disk_id from EC shard information during topology collection
- Implement pickBestDiskOnNode() for selecting best disk per shard
- Add diskDistributionScore() for tie-breaking node selection
- Update all move operations to specify target disk in RPC calls
- Improves shard balance within multi-disk servers, not just across servers

* Use placement package in EC detection for consistent disk-level placement

- Replace custom EC disk selection logic with shared placement package
- Convert topology DiskInfo to placement.DiskCandidate format
- Use SelectDestinations() for multi-rack/server/disk spreading
- Convert placement results back to topology DiskInfo for task creation
- Ensures EC detection uses same placement logic as shell commands

* Make volume server evacuation disk-aware

- Use pickBestDiskOnNode() when selecting evacuation target disk
- Specify target disk in evacuation RPC requests
- Maintains balanced disk distribution during server evacuations

* Rename PlacementConfig to PlacementRequest for clarity

PlacementRequest better reflects that this is a request for placement
rather than a configuration object. This improves API semantics.

* Rename DefaultConfig to DefaultPlacementRequest

Aligns with the PlacementRequest type naming for consistency

* Address review comments from Gemini and CodeRabbit

Fix HIGH issues:
- Fix empty disk discovery: Now discovers all disks from VolumeInfos,
not just from EC shards. This ensures disks without EC shards are
  still considered for placement.
- Fix EC shard count calculation in detection.go: Now correctly filters
by DiskId and sums actual shard counts using ShardBits.ShardIdCount()
instead of just counting EcShardInfo entries.

Fix MEDIUM issues:
- Add disk ID to evacuation log messages for consistency with other logging
- Remove unused serverToDisks variable in placement.go
- Fix comment that incorrectly said 'ascending' when sorting is 'descending'

* add ec tests

* Update ec-integration-tests.yml

* Update ec_integration_test.go

* Fix EC integration tests CI: build weed binary and update actions

- Add 'Build weed binary' step before running tests
- Update actions/setup-go from v4 to v6 (Node20 compatibility)
- Update actions/checkout from v2 to v4 (Node20 compatibility)
- Move working-directory to test step only

* Add disk-aware EC rebalancing integration tests

- Add TestDiskAwareECRebalancing test with multi-disk cluster setup
- Test EC encode with disk awareness (shows disk ID in output)
- Test EC balance with disk-level shard distribution
- Add helper functions for disk-level verification:
  - startMultiDiskCluster: 3 servers x 4 disks each
  - countShardsPerDisk: track shards per disk per server
  - calculateDiskShardVariance: measure distribution balance
- Verify no single disk is overloaded with shards
