Chris Lu 44115c1051 filer: stop TUS uploads from turning into garbage (#10945)
* filer: store TUS sub-chunks through the regular chunk writer

A TUS sub-chunk was written with one assigned file id, retried up to
three times against that same id, and abandoned on failure: an attempt
that had landed on some replicas left a needle no session record and no
entry ever references, unreclaimable by vacuum.

dataToChunkWithSSE, which the regular write path uses per chunk, assigns
a fresh file id per attempt and hands back the file ids of failed
attempts, which are now freed the way the regular write path frees them.

* filer: retry a chunk write on a fresh volume when the server 5xxs

The filer's chunk writer assigns a fresh file id per attempt but only
retried transient network errors, so a volume filling up and turning
read-only mid-write failed the whole request even though the very next
assignment would have landed elsewhere. Every other write client already
routes this through ShouldReassignUpload; the filer's own write path now
does the same, for regular uploads and TUS sub-chunks alike.

* filer: export the chunk deletion queue

The filer test harness in weed/server builds filer.Filer as a struct
literal, so any code path reaching DeleteChunks dereferenced a nil
queue. Exported like the neighboring DeletionRetryQueue so the harness
can arm it.

* filer: complete a TUS upload whose chunk records overlap

A PATCH retried while its predecessor was still storing a sub-chunk -
a proxy timeout with an immediate retry is enough - records the same
range twice. HEAD computes Upload-Offset as the covered watermark and
reported the upload fully received, but completion demanded exactly
adjacent records and failed every attempt: the client concluded success
from offset == length, no entry was created, and the session eventually
expired, turning the entire upload into deleted needles for the vacuum
to chew through.

Completion now validates gapless coverage with the same watermark HEAD
uses. A record extending coverage joins the entry - the read path
resolves partial overlaps by ModifiedTsNs, and the raced copies carry
identical bytes - while a fully covered duplicate is freed once the
entry lands.

* filer: allow one mutating TUS request per session at a time

Nothing stopped two PATCHes from writing the same range concurrently:
both loaded the same offset, both passed the conflict check, and both
recorded their sub-chunks. A client whose request timed out in a proxy
retries immediately while the server side is still storing the buffered
sub-chunk, which is exactly that race.

A session now accepts one PATCH or DELETE at a time, the way tusd locks
uploads; a concurrent one is refused with 423 Locked, which TUS clients
retry, and HEAD keeps answering so progress polling is unaffected. The
chunk state is loaded under the claim, so a retried PATCH sees every
record its predecessor left and conflicts cleanly instead of duplicating
data.

* test: cover a TUS PATCH raced by its own retry

Stalls a PATCH mid-body over a raw connection, retries the same range
while it is in flight, and expects the retry refused with 423 Locked;
the upload then resumes from the reported offset and the final content
must be intact.

* filer: never free a TUS duplicate the entry still references

Coverage is computed from ranges, so a record fully covered by another
is treated as a duplicate no matter which needle it names. A malformed
record naming a file id the entry keeps would have had that needle freed
right after the entry landed - the corruption this change set exists to
stop. The duplicates are now freed in one batch, skipping any file id
the entry references; their records go with the session directory.

* test: bound the raw TUS connection reads

http.ReadResponse on the stalled PATCH's connection blocked until the
whole go test timeout if the filer never answered.

* filer: free the needles of chunk write attempts a retry replaced

A volume server stores the needle locally and only then fans out to the
replicas, so a replication failure 5xxs with the data already written.
Each attempt assigns its own file id, so once a later attempt lands
elsewhere nothing references the earlier ones: the caller only sees the
chunk that succeeded, and the failed ids were dropped.

They are now freed the way the caller frees them when the whole write
fails. Retrying on a 5xx makes this reachable on every read-only or full
volume, which is exactly the condition that filled the reporter's
volumes.

孙超 c80664ec21 s3: propagate storage rule fsync to volume server uploads (#10906)
The storage rule's fsync decision was computed by the filer
(detectStorageOption -> rule.Fsync) and applied on the filer's own HTTP
write path, but was never carried onto the chunk uploads S3 issues: the
AssignVolumeResponse had no fsync field, so the s3api client could not
learn the decision, and the chunked upload URL was hardcoded without it.
Every S3 write to a path with fsync configured went to the volume server
as a non-fsync write.

Carry the decision through the assign response:

- filer.proto: AssignVolumeResponse gains bool fsync, filled from the
  storage option the assign resolved.
- operation.AssignResult gains Fsync, so uploadChunk can append
  ?fsync=true to the volume server upload URL (single and replica
  fan-out paths).
- The S3 PUT/UploadPart assignFunc, the S3 copy path, the admin file
  browser upload, and the Iceberg worker assign functions all forward
  the response field.

Adds TestUploadReaderInChunksAppendsFsyncWhenAssigned.

ab79d1f680 operation: re-assign chunk upload when replica volume is full (#10588)
* operation: re-assign chunk upload when replica volume is full

When a volume reaches MaxPossibleVolumeSize, needle writes return
'Volume Size Exceeded' and the fan-out in uploadChunkToHolders fails.
Previously the error propagated immediately, killing the entire chunked
upload even though the master has other writable volumes.

Fix: detect 'Volume Size' errors on the fan-out path, call AssignFunc
again to get a fresh volume, and retry (up to 3 attempts). This avoids
backup failures while a single replica volume is full and waiting for GC.

Also add 'volume size exceeded' to the transient error messages so any
retry path that checks IsTransientError recognises it.

* util: fix transient error pattern for volume size errors

The actual error message is 'Volume Size 34361499680 Exceeded 34359738368'
where the numeric size separates 'Volume Size' from 'Exceeded'. The
previous pattern 'volume size exceeded' would never match. Change to
'volume size' which correctly matches any capacity-full error.

* operation: fix reassignment loop nits

- Case-insensitive volume size match (strings.ToLower)
- Propagate AssignFunc error so caller sees reassignment failure
- Reset JWT fallback before each reassignment to avoid retaining stale auth

* util: stop classifying a full volume as a transient error

A volume at capacity does not become writable on the next attempt, so the
entry only bought a retry loop's worth of sleeping before the same failure.
It also reached four consumers that all retry the same target — the deletion
queue, the replication sink, volume lookups, and Retry/MultiRetry — none of
which reassign, and the widened "volume size" substring swallowed the
replica-receive rejection from WriteNeedleBlob too.

The chunked upload path recovers by asking for a different volume instead.

* operation: reassign a chunk with the shared upload gate

shouldReassignUpload already answers this question for the non-chunked path,
keyed off the status the volume server returned rather than its message text.
Reusing it covers a lost replica peer and an unreachable target as well as a
full volume, and it stops a 4xx from being retried on a second volume that
would reject it identically.

Pulling the single attempt out into uploadChunk keeps the retry loop readable
now that it wraps both the fan-out and the relay path.

* test: cover chunk reassignment across volumes

Pins the three outcomes the gate decides: a full volume moves the chunk to a
fresh assignment, a 4xx stays put, and the loop gives up after
chunkAssignAttempts volumes.

* operation: roll back the fid a reassigned chunk abandons

ReplicatedWrite commits the needle locally before it replicates, so a 5xx can
leave a copy behind on a volume the chunk is about to walk away from. Nothing
will ever reference that fid, and an unreferenced needle is not garbage vacuum
can find — it is dead space until the volume is destroyed.

uploadChunkToHolders rolls back only the holders that reported success, which
misses the one whose write landed but whose response did not, and the relay
path had no rollback at all. Delete from every holder of the abandoned
assignment instead; deleting a needle that never landed is a no-op.

* operation: stop the reassignment loop from multiplying work

retriedUploadData already retries a chunk three times against the same URL, so
wrapping it in three assignments made nine POSTs for one chunk. On the relay
path that inner retry is redundant — the loop retries everything it would, and
on a different volume — so cap it at one attempt per assignment and leave the
budget where it was. The fan-out path keeps its inner retries: absorbing a blip
on one holder beats cancelling the rest and re-uploading the whole chunk.

Nothing bounded any of it by time. weed/s3api passes context.Background() so a
chunk survives client disconnect, which also means no deadline cuts the loop
short, and a chunk goroutine holds one of four buffer slots while it spins.
Break out once another chunk has already failed the object.

* operation: keep the reassignment gate's inputs deterministic

uploadChunkToHolders reported whichever holder error won the channel race.
That was cosmetic while the value was only logged; now it decides whether the
chunk moves to another volume, so a 400 and a 500 arriving in either order
made the retry behavior depend on scheduling. Prefer an error the caller can
act on, and the same failure always retries the same way.

A failed reassignment also overwrote the upload error that prompted it, which
buried a full volume behind whatever the filer happened to say. Keep both in
the chain.

The tests grew a JWT per assignment, since the loop re-derives one and nothing
covered it, and the bound is now spelled out rather than compared against the
constant that defines it.

* operation: roll back the last abandoned fid too

The rollback ran only on the path that goes on to reassign, so the attempt
that exhausts the budget — or stops because another chunk already failed the
object, or because the error is not one a different volume fixes — left its
fid behind. That is the case that matters most: no chunk names it, the caller
gets no fid to clean up, and a 5xx can still mean the needle was committed.

Roll back on every failed attempt instead, before deciding whether to retry.

Chris Lu 155140bed8 s3: return IncompleteBody instead of 500 for truncated PUT bodies (#10186)

The chunked uploader wraps both source-read failures and volume-upload failures,
and a mid-write volume server drop also carries io.ErrUnexpectedEOF. Tag only the
source read so callers can tell a truncated input apart from a server-side fault.

* s3: return IncompleteBody for a truncated PUT body

A client abort or reverse-proxy timeout truncates the request body mid-upload.
putToFiler mapped every streaming-upload failure to InternalError (500), which a
reverse proxy relays as a 502. Classify a source-read truncation as IncompleteBody
(400) so the response matches AWS and passes through. All S3 write paths share
putToFiler, so they all benefit.

* s3: replicate by fanning out from the gateway to every holder

The S3 gateway uploaded each chunk to one volume server, which then
relayed the copies to the other replica holders. The gateway now uploads
each chunk to every holder in parallel (type=replicate), removing the
primary volume server's receive-then-resend relay.

AssignVolume returns every replica holder (new repeated Location replicas,
forwarded from the master assign), the s3api captures them, and the
chunked uploader fans out whenever a chunk has more than one holder.
Cipher uploads keep the server-driven path since per-call encryption would
diverge the replicas.

* s3: cancel sibling replica uploads on the first failure

* s3: trim replica fan-out comments

* s3: roll back successful fan-out chunk copies when a holder fails

A failed fan-out records no FileChunk, so copies that landed on the holders
that finished before the cancel were leaked as orphans the caller could not
see. Track the holders that succeeded and delete the needle from each
(type=replicate, local-only) on failure, leaving nothing behind.

chore(upload): add offset/bytes-read context to chunk ReadFrom errors

Wrap io.ErrUnexpectedEOF (and siblings) from bytesBuffer.ReadFrom so
the log shows "read chunk at offset N (got M bytes): ..." instead of
a bare "unexpected EOF". The context distinguishes a client disconnect
before any data arrived (offset=0, got=0) from a mid-stream truncation
(offset>0, got<chunkSize) — diagnosing #9149 in the wild.

Verified at this stage that expectedDataSize is already threaded
correctly from upload_chunked.go (actual ReadFrom bytes) through
s3api assignFunc → filer AssignVolume → master PickForWrite.
No behavioral change to what the master receives.

Chris Lu 00a2e22478 fix(mount): remove fid pool to stop master over-allocating volumes (#9111)
* fix(mount): remove fid pool to stop master over-allocating volumes

The writeback-cache fid pool pre-allocated file IDs with
ExpectedDataSize = ChunkSizeLimit (typically 8+ MB). The master's
PickForWrite charges count * expectedDataSize against the volume's
effectiveSize, so a full pool refill could charge hundreds of MB
against a single volume before any bytes were actually written.
That tripped RecordAssign's hard-limit path and eagerly removed
volumes from writable, causing the master to grow new volumes
even when the real data being written was tiny.

Drop the pool entirely. Every chunk upload goes through
UploadWithRetry -> AssignVolume with no ExpectedDataSize hint,
letting the master fall back to the 1 MB default estimate. The
mount->filer grpc connection is already cached in pb.WithGrpcClient
(non-streaming mode), so per-chunk AssignVolume is a unary RPC
over an existing HTTP/2 stream, not a full dial. Path-based
filer.conf storage rules now apply to mount chunk assigns again,
which the pool had to skip.

Also remove the now-unused operation.UploadWithAssignFunc and its
AssignFunc type.

* fix(upload): populate ExpectedDataSize from actual chunk bytes

UploadWithRetry already buffers the full chunk into `data` before
calling AssignVolume, so the real size is known. Previously the
assign request went out with ExpectedDataSize=0, making the master
fall back to the 1 MB DefaultNeedleSizeEstimate per fid — same
over-reservation symptom the pool had, just smaller per call.

Stamp ExpectedDataSize = len(data) before the assign RPC when the
caller hasn't already set it. This covers mount chunk uploads,
filer_copy, filersink, mq/logstore, broker_write, gateway_upload,
and nfs — all the UploadWithRetry paths.

* fix(assign): pass real ExpectedDataSize at every assign call site

After removing the mount fid pool, per-chunk AssignVolume calls went
out with ExpectedDataSize=0, making the master fall back to its 1 MB
DefaultNeedleSizeEstimate. That's still an over-estimate for small
writes. Thread the real payload size through every remaining assign
site so RecordAssign charges effectiveSize accurately and stops
prematurely marking volumes full.

- filer: assignNewFileInfo now takes expectedDataSize and stamps it
  on both primary and alternate VolumeAssignRequests. Callers pass:
  - SSE data-to-chunk: len(data)
  - copy manifest save: len(data)
  - streamCopyChunk: srcChunk.Size
  - TUS sub-chunk: bytes read
  - saveAsChunk (autochunk/manifestize): 0 (small, size unknown
    until the reader is drained; master uses 1 MB default)
- filer gRPC remote fetch-and-write: ExpectedDataSize = chunkSize
  after the adaptive chunkSize is computed.
- ChunkedUploadOption.AssignFunc gains an expectedDataSize parameter;
  upload_chunked.go passes the buffered dataSize at the call site.
  S3 PUT assignFunc stamps it on the AssignVolumeRequest.
- S3 copy: assignNewVolume / prepareChunkCopy take expectedDataSize;
  all seven call sites pass the source chunk's Size.
- operation.SubmitFiles / FilePart.Upload: derive per-fid size from
  FileSize (average for batched requests, real per-chunk size for
  sequential chunk assigns).
- benchmark: pass fileSize.
- filer append-to-file: pass len(data).

* fix(assign): thread size through SaveDataAsChunkFunctionType

The saveAsChunk path (autochunk, filer_copy, webdav, mount) ran
AssignVolume before the reader was drained, so it had to pass
ExpectedDataSize=0 and fall back to the master's 1 MB default.

Add an expectedDataSize parameter to SaveDataAsChunkFunctionType.
- mergeIntoManifest already has the serialized manifest bytes, so
  it passes uint64(len(data)) directly.
- Mount's saveDataAsChunk ignores the parameter because it uses
  UploadWithRetry, which already stamps len(data) on the assign
  after reading the payload.
- webdav and filer_copy saveDataAsChunk follow the same UploadWithRetry
  path and also ignore the hint.
- Filer's saveAsChunk (used for manifestize) plumbs the value to
  assignNewFileInfo so manifest-chunk assigns get a real size.

Callers of saveFunc-as-value (weedfs_file_sync, dirty_pages_chunked)
pass the chunk size they're about to upload.

Updated startMiniCluster to find all required ports simultaneously using
findAvailablePorts instead of sequentially. This prevents race conditions
where the OS reallocates a port that was just released, causing multiple
services (e.g. Filer and Volume) to be assigned the same port and fail
to start.

* Add S3 volume encryption support with -s3.encryptVolumeData flag

This change adds volume-level encryption support for S3 uploads, similar
to the existing -filer.encryptVolumeData option. Each chunk is encrypted
with its own auto-generated CipherKey when the flag is enabled.

Changes:
- Add -s3.encryptVolumeData flag to weed s3, weed server, and weed mini
- Wire Cipher option through S3ApiServer and ChunkedUploadOption
- Add integration tests for multi-chunk range reads with encryption
- Tests verify encryption works across chunk boundaries

Usage:
  weed s3 -encryptVolumeData
  weed server -s3 -s3.encryptVolumeData
  weed mini -s3.encryptVolumeData

Integration tests:

Critical fix for SSE (Server-Side Encryption) test failures:

1. **JWT Authentication Bug** (Root Cause):
   - Changed from GenJwtForFilerServer to GenJwtForVolumeServer
   - S3 API now uses correct JWT when directly reading from volume servers
   - Matches filer's authentication pattern for direct volume access

part to the completed object. This had TWO bugs:

1. **Wrong Constant Name** (Key Mismatch Bug):
   - Storage uses: SeaweedFSSSEKMSKeyHeader = 'X-SeaweedFS-SSE-KMS-Key'
   - Old code read: SeaweedFSSSEKMSKey = 'x-seaweedfs-sse-kms-key'
   - Result: SSE-KMS metadata was NEVER copied → 500 errors

2. **Missing SSE-C and SSE-S3 Headers**:
   - SSE-C requires: IV, Algorithm, KeyMD5
   - SSE-S3 requires: encrypted key data + standard headers
   - Old code: copied nothing for SSE-C/SSE-S3 → decryption failures

**Fix - Complete SSE Header Preservation**:
Now copies ALL SSE headers from first part to completed object:

- SSE-C: SeaweedFSSSEIV, CustomerAlgorithm, CustomerKeyMD5
- SSE-KMS: SeaweedFSSSEKMSKeyHeader, AwsKmsKeyId, ServerSideEncryption
- SSE-S3: SeaweedFSSSES3Key, ServerSideEncryption

Applied consistently to all 3 code paths:
1. Versioned buckets (creates version file)
2. Suspended versioning (creates main object with null versionId)
3. Non-versioned buckets (creates main object)

**Why This Is Correct**:
The headers copied EXACTLY match what putToFiler stores during part
upload (lines 496-521 in s3api_object_handlers_put.go). This ensures
detectPrimarySSEType() can correctly identify encrypted multipart
objects and trigger inline decryption with proper metadata.

Expected to show chunks with SseType=NONE during retrieval even though
they were created with proper SseType during multipart completion.

**Critical Bug Found**: SSE-C multipart uploads were failing because:

Root Cause:
- entry.Extended[SeaweedFSSSEIV] stores base64-encoded IV (24 bytes for 16-byte IV)
- SerializeSSECMetadata expects raw IV bytes (16 bytes)
- During multipart completion, we were passing base64 IV directly → serialization error

Error Message:
"Failed to serialize SSE-C metadata for chunk in part X: invalid IV length: expected 16 bytes, got 24"

Fix:
- Base64-decode IV before passing to SerializeSSECMetadata
- Added error handling for decode failures

Impact:
- SSE-C multipart uploads will now correctly serialize chunk metadata
- Chunks will have proper SSE metadata for decryption during GET
