Chris Lu ce7d388639 heartbeat: send only the volumes that changed (#10640)
* pb: let a heartbeat carry only the volumes that changed

A partial list cannot travel in volumes: a master that did not understand it
would read the absences as deletions. So changes get their own field, used only
once the master has said it compares digests and can tell when it has fallen
behind.

* master: apply the volumes a heartbeat reports as changed

Only the named volumes are touched. A full report says the server holds exactly
these; a changed report says nothing about the ones it leaves out, so absence
must not read as removal.

Also advertises that the master compares digests, which is what lets a server
stop sending its whole list. Advertising it once per connection means a server
reconnecting to a master that does not is back to full lists straight away.

* volume: send only the volumes that changed once the master accepts them

The whole list goes on every heartbeat until the master says it compares
digests, and again whenever it asks, so a master that cannot tell when it has
fallen behind never has to.

has_no_volumes stays derived from a full list alone. Deriving it from what a
heartbeat happens to carry would make a quiet one read as a server that had
lost every volume, and the master would drop them all.

The digest still covers every volume held rather than the ones sent, which is
what lets the master confirm that applying the changes left it current.

Reporting state is per-connection: a server that reconnects, or reaches a
different master, starts again from the full list.

* volume: let the zero reporting state stand for having told no master anything

A Store built as a literal, which tests do, left the reporting state nil and
panicked on the first heartbeat. As a value its zero form already means nothing
has been reported to anyone, which is exactly the state that sends the whole
list.

* rust: send only the volumes that changed once the master accepts them

Mirrors the Go volume server, with one hazard the Go side does not have: mount
and unmount deltas here are derived by diffing successive heartbeats, so a
heartbeat that carries a partial list would report every volume it left out as
unmounted. Collecting now returns the full set alongside the message, and every
site that diffs uses that rather than what went on the wire.

* volume: do not let a full-list request be lost to the heartbeat it raced

The request arrived while a heartbeat was already being built as a delta, and
committing that heartbeat cleared it, so the master waited for another digest
mismatch before asking again. Count the requests and clear only the one the
heartbeat answered.

* rust: stop marking volumes reported by a heartbeat that is thrown away

The state-notify path collected a heartbeat only to diff its volume list, then
sent a delta message of its own and dropped the one it had collected. Once
collecting recorded what the master had been told, every mount or unmount
silently marked the changed volumes as sent, and the master learned of them
only after a digest mismatch.

Snapshotting no longer records anything, and no longer expires ec volumes
whose deletion that path was already discarding.

* master: announce only the volumes a change actually brought

Every changed volume was broadcast as a new location. Volumes grow constantly
and growth moves no location, so on a busy cluster that told every connected
client about volumes it could already reach, filling bounded broadcast queues
and pushing out the topology updates that matter.

* master: ask for the full list when only one can repair the master

Delta heartbeats stop the full report, and with it the only thing that
re-registers a volume the lookup index lost. The volume server cannot see that
divergence and its digest cannot show it, so the master now checks its own two
indexes agree and asks for the list when they do not.

A node reporting one volume id twice is kept on full lists for the same reason
rather than merely skipped: its digest can never be verified, so nothing else
would tell the master what it had stopped holding.

* master: keep the volume options on every heartbeat response

A volume server takes them from whatever response arrives, and preallocate is a
bare bool with no way to tell off from unmentioned. A response sent to ask for
the volume list therefore turned preallocation off until the server reconnected.

Responses sent mid-stream now start from the configured options rather than
being built field by field.

* master: announce a volume the lookup index had lost

Repairing the index makes the volume servable again, but clients were told it
went when the node dropped out and nothing told them otherwise: the disk map
still held it, so it did not count as an arrival.

Reaching the lookup index is what makes a volume servable, so recovering an
entry there is an arrival as far as clients are concerned, on both the full
report and the changed-volume path.

81ed379884 volume server: route VolumeMarkReadonly to raft leader (#10120)
* volume server: route VolumeMarkReadonly to raft leader

After a master raft election, volume servers may still heartbeat a follower
while admin paths such as weed shell volume.mark call notifyMasterVolumeReadonly
via vs.GetMaster(). Followers reject VolumeMarkReadonly with NotLeader, which
breaks tiering and other mark-readonly workflows until the heartbeat loop
reconnects.

Resolve the leader through GetMasterConfiguration on configured -master peers
(same Leader field filer/master clients already use) before calling
VolumeMarkReadonly. When the leader differs from the heartbeat peer, update
currentMaster so the heartbeat loop converges faster.

Adds operation.LookupRaftLeaderMaster with unit tests.

Do not update currentMaster during leader lookup — heartbeat owns that
field and uses stream GetLeader() to reconnect. Try the heartbeat peer
first and only resolve the raft leader after a NotLeader rejection.
Add ctx.Err() early exit and quieter logging for context cancellation.

* fix(operation): thread the lookup timeout ctx into connection invalidation

The 5s timeout drove only the RPC; WithMasterServerClient saw the
unbounded outer ctx, so a self-inflicted timeout (slow GetMasterConfiguration
during an election) was treated as a stale channel and tore down the shared
master connection. Pass the timeout ctx into the helper so its own expiry
leaves ctx.Err() set and spares the connection.

Chris Lu 2386fa550a grpc: don't tear down the shared master connection on a caller's own timeout (#9775)
A Canceled/DeadlineExceeded from the caller's per-request context was
treated like a dead channel: it closed the shared cached ClientConn and
cancelled every other in-flight RPC on it with "the client connection is
closing". Under a burst of concurrent chunk assigns (e.g. a large S3
multipart upload) one slow assign hitting its 10s attempt timeout could
poison the connection for all the rest, cascading into a flood of 500s.

Thread the caller's context into shouldInvalidateConnection and only
invalidate on Canceled/DeadlineExceeded while that context is still live,
which isolates the genuine stale-channel signal (a peer restart behind a
k8s Service VIP). To carry the context, add a ctx parameter to the
existing WithGrpcClient, WithMasterClient, and WithMasterServerClient; the
master assign and volume-lookup paths pass their per-attempt context and
every other caller passes context.Background().

* fix(ec): blanket-clean every destination over the full shard range

The previous cleanup pass walked t.sources only, with the shard ids the
topology had reported at detection time. In the wild, a destination can
end up with EC shards mounted that the topology snapshot didn't list —
shards on a sibling disk that hadn't heartbeated, or shards left over
from a concurrent attempt's mount step. FindEcVolume still returns
true, so the next ReceiveFile trips the mounted-volume guard.

Cleanup now unions t.sources (with ShardIds) and t.targets and issues
unmount + delete over [0..totalShards-1] on each. Both RPCs are
idempotent on missing shards, so the wider sweep is free.

Two new tests cover the gap: shards mounted beyond what t.sources
lists, and a target-only destination with no source row.

* log(ec): include disk_id in EC unmount/delete/refusal log lines

The current logs identify the volume and shard but leave disk_id off,
which makes the cross-server cleanup story hard to follow when
multiple disks of one server hold pieces of the same volume:

  UnmountEcShards 4121.1                              -> add disk_id
  ec volume video-recordings_4121 shard delete [1 5]  -> add per-loc disk_id
  volume server X:Y deletes ec shards from 4121 [...] -> add disk_id
  ReceiveFile: ec volume 4121 is mounted; refusing... -> add disk_ids

ReceiveFile's refusal now names the disk_ids actually holding the
mount so operators can see whether the next cleanup pass needs to
target a sibling disk. Added Store.FindEcVolumeDiskIds /
Store::find_ec_volume_disk_ids as the supporting primitive.

Mirrored in seaweed-volume/src/ (unmount log in Store::unmount_ec_shard,
heartbeat delete log in diff_ec_shard_delta_messages, refusal in the
ReceiveFile handler).

* test(ec): stub VolumeEcShardsUnmount/Delete on the fake volume server

The plugin-worker EC tests boot a fake volume server that embeds
UnimplementedVolumeServerServer. After the worker started calling
VolumeEcShardsUnmount + VolumeEcShardsDelete pre-distribute, the
default Unimplemented response surfaced as fourteen "method not
implemented" errors and TestErasureCodingExecutionEncodesShards
failed. Both RPCs are no-ops here — nothing on the fake server has
mounted state or persisted shard files to remove.

Chris Lu 10cc06333b cluster: restrict Ping RPC to known peers of the requested type (#9445)
Ping previously dialled whatever host:port the caller asked for. Gate
each server's Ping handler on cluster membership: masters check the
topology, registered cluster nodes, and configured master peers; volume
servers only accept their seed/current masters; filers accept tracked
peer filers, the master-learned volume server set, and configured
masters.

Use address-indexed peer lookups to keep Ping target validation O(1):
- topology maintains a pb.ServerAddress -> *DataNode index alongside
  the dc/rack/node tree, kept in sync from doLinkChildNode and
  UnlinkChildNode plus the ip/port-rewrite branch in
  GetOrCreateDataNode. GetTopology now returns nil on a detached
  subtree instead of panicking, so the linkage hooks can no-op safely.
- vid_map tracks a refcount per volume-server address so
  hasVolumeServer answers without scanning every vid location. The
  add path skips empty-address entries the same way the delete path
  already does, so a zero-value Location cannot leak a permanent
  serverRefCount[""] bucket.
- masters reuse a cached master-address set from MasterClient instead
  of walking the configured peer slice on every request.
- volume servers compare against a pre-built seed-master set and
  protect currentMaster reads/writes with an RWMutex, fixing the
  data race with the heartbeat goroutine. The seed slice is copied
  on construction so external mutation cannot desync it from the
  frozen lookup set.
- cluster.check drops the direct volume-to-volume sweep; volume
  servers no longer carry a peer-volume list, and the note next to
  the dropped probe is reworded to make clear that direct
  volume-to-volume reachability is intentionally not validated by
  this command.

Update the volume-server integration tests that drove Ping through the
new admission gate: success-path coverage now targets the master peer
(the only type a volume server tracks), and the unknown/unreachable
path asserts the InvalidArgument the gate now returns instead of the
old downstream dial error.

Mirror the same admission gate in the Rust volume server crate: a
seed-master HashSet built once at startup plus a tokio RwLock over the
heartbeat-tracked current master, both consulted in is_known_ping_target
on every Ping, with InvalidArgument returned for any target that isn't
a recognised master.

* fix(wdclient,volume): compare master leader with ServerAddress.Equals

Raft leader is advertised as host:httpPort.grpcPort, but clients dial
host:httpPort. Raw string comparison against VolumeLocation.Leader /
HeartbeatResponse.Leader therefore never matches, causing the
masterclient and the volume server heartbeat loop to continuously
"redirect" to the already-connected master, tearing down the stream
and reconnecting.

Use ServerAddress.Equals, which normalizes the grpc-port suffix.

* fix(filer,mq): compare ServerAddress via Equals in two more sites

filer bootstrap skip (MaybeBootstrapFromOnePeer) and the broker's local
partition assignment check both compared a wire-supplied address string
against the local self ServerAddress with raw string equality. Both are
vulnerable to the same plain-vs-host:port.grpcPort mismatch as the
masterclient/volume heartbeat sites: filer would bootstrap from itself,
and the broker would fail to claim a partition it was actually assigned.
Route both through ServerAddress.Equals.

* fix(master,shell): more ServerAddress comparisons via Equals

- raft_server_handlers.go HealthzHandler: s.serverAddr == leader would
  skip the child-lock check on the real leader when the two carry
  different plain/grpc-suffix forms, returning 200 OK instead of 423.
- master_server.go SetRaftServer leader-change callback: the
  Leader() == Name() guard for ensureTopologyId could disagree with
  topology.IsLeader() (which already uses Equals), so leader-only
  initialization could be skipped after an election.
- command_volume_merge.go isReplicaServer: the -target guard compared
  user-supplied host:port against NewServerAddressFromDataNode(...) with
  ==, letting an existing replica slip through when topology carries
  the embedded gRPC port.

All routed through pb.ServerAddress.Equals.

* fix(mq,cluster): more ServerAddress comparisons via Equals

- broker_grpc_lookup.go GetTopicPublishers/GetTopicSubscribers: the
  partition ownership check gated listing on raw
  LeaderBroker == BrokerAddress().String(), so listings silently omitted
  partitions hosted locally when the assignment carried the other
  host:port / host:port.grpcPort form.
- lock_client.go: LockHostMovedTo comparison and the seedFiler fallback
  guard both used raw string equality against configured filer
  addresses (which may be plain host:port while LockHostMovedTo comes
  back suffixed), causing spurious host-change churn and blocking the
  seed-filer fallback.

* fix(mq): more ServerAddress comparisons via Equals

- pub_balancer/allocate.go EnsureAssignmentsToActiveBrokers: direct
  activeBrokers.Get() lookup missed brokers when a persisted assignment
  carried a different address encoding than the registered broker key,
  triggering a bogus reassignment on every read/write cycle. Added a
  findActiveBroker helper that falls back to an Equals-based scan and
  canonicalizes the assignment in place so later writes are stable.
- broker_grpc_lookup.go isLockOwner: used raw string equality between
  LockOwner() and BrokerAddress().String(), so a lock owner could fail
  to recognize itself and proxy local lookup/config/admin RPCs away.
- pub_client/scheduler.go onEachAssignments: reused publisher jobs only
  on exact LeaderBroker match, so an encoding flip in lookup results
  tore down and recreated a stream to the same broker.

Remove ~50,000 lines of unreachable code identified by static analysis.

Major removals:
- weed/filer/redis_lua: entire unused Redis Lua filer store implementation
- weed/wdclient/net2, resource_pool: unused connection/resource pool packages
- weed/plugin/worker/lifecycle: unused lifecycle plugin worker
- weed/s3api: unused S3 policy templates, presigned URL IAM, streaming copy,
  multipart IAM, key rotation, and various SSE helper functions
- weed/mq/kafka: unused partition mapping, compression, schema, and protocol functions
- weed/mq/offset: unused SQL storage and migration code
- weed/worker: unused registry, task, and monitoring functions
- weed/query: unused SQL engine, parquet scanner, and type functions
- weed/shell: unused EC proportional rebalance functions
- weed/storage/erasure_coding/distribution: unused distribution analysis functions
- Individual unreachable functions removed from 150+ files across admin,
  credential, filer, iam, kms, mount, mq, operation, pb, s3api, server,
  shell, storage, topology, and util packages

* fix(s3): reset shared memory store in IAM test to prevent flaky failure

TestLoadIAMManagerFromConfig_EmptyConfigWithFallbackKey was flaky because
the MemoryStore credential backend is a singleton registered via init().
Earlier tests that create anonymous identities pollute the shared store,
causing LookupAnonymous() to unexpectedly return true.

Fix by calling Reset() on the memory store before the test runs.

* style: run gofmt on changed files

* fix: restore KMS functions used by integration tests

* fix(plugin): prevent panic on send to closed worker session channel

The Plugin.sendToWorker method could panic with "send on closed channel"
when a worker disconnected while a message was being sent. The race was
between streamSession.close() closing the outgoing channel and sendToWorker
writing to it concurrently.

Add a done channel to streamSession that is closed before the outgoing
channel, and check it in sendToWorker's select to safely detect closed
sessions without panicking.

Lisandro Pin 2af293ce60 Boostrap persistent state for volume servers. (#7984)
This PR implements logic load/save persistent state information for storages
associated with volume servers, and reporting state changes back to masters
via heartbeat messages.

More work ensues!

Lisandro Pin 6b98b52acc Fix reporting of EC shard sizes from nodes to masters. (#7835)
SeaweedFS tracks EC shard sizes on topology data stuctures, but this information is never
relayed to master servers :( The end result is that commands reporting disk usage, such
as `volume.list` and `cluster.status`, yield incorrect figures when EC shards are present.

As an example for a simple 5-node test cluster, before...

Chris Lu 1261e93ef2 fix: comprehensive go vet error fixes and add CI enforcement (#7861)
* fix: use keyed fields in struct literals

- Replace unsafe reflect.StringHeader/SliceHeader with safe unsafe.String/Slice (weed/query/sqltypes/unsafe.go)
- Add field names to Type_ScalarType struct literals (weed/mq/schema/schema_builder.go)
- Add Duration field name to FlexibleDuration struct literals across test files
- Add field names to bson.D struct literals (weed/filer/mongodb/mongodb_store_kv.go)

Fixes go vet warnings about unkeyed struct literals.

* fix: remove unreachable code

- Remove unreachable return statements after infinite for loops
- Remove unreachable code after if/else blocks where all paths return
- Simplify recursive logic by removing unnecessary for loop (inode_to_path.go)
- Fix Type_ScalarType literal to use enum value directly (schema_builder.go)
- Call onCompletionFn on stream error (subscribe_session.go)

- weed/mq/schema/schema_builder.go

* fix: avoid copying lock values in protobuf messages

- Use proto.Merge() instead of direct assignment to avoid copying sync.Mutex in S3ApiConfiguration (iamapi_server.go)
- Add explicit comments noting that channel-received values are already copies before taking addresses (volume_grpc_client_to_master.go)

The protobuf messages contain sync.Mutex fields from the message state, which should not be copied.
Using proto.Merge() properly merges messages without copying the embedded mutex.

* fix: correct byte array size for uint32 bit shift operations

The generateAccountId() function only needs 4 bytes to create a uint32 value.
Changed from allocating 8 bytes to 4 bytes to match the actual usage.

This fixes go vet warning about shifting 8-bit values (bytes) by more than 8 bits.

* fix: ensure context cancellation on all error paths

In broker_client_subscribe.go, ensure subscriberCancel() is called on all error return paths:
- When stream creation fails
- When partition assignment fails
- When sending initialization message fails

This prevents context leaks when an error occurs during subscriber creation.

* fix: ensure subscriberCancel called for CreateFreshSubscriber stream.Send error

Ensure subscriberCancel() is called when stream.Send fails in CreateFreshSubscriber.

* ci: add go vet step to prevent future lint regressions

- Add go vet step to GitHub Actions workflow
- Filter known protobuf lock warnings (MessageState sync.Mutex)
  These are expected in generated protobuf code and are safe
- Prevents accumulation of go vet errors in future PRs
- Step runs before build to catch issues early

* fix: resolve remaining syntax and logic errors in vet fixes

- Fixed syntax errors in filer_sync.go caused by missing closing braces
- Added missing closing brace for if block and function
- Synchronized fixes to match previous commits on branch

* fix: add missing return statements to daemon functions

- Add 'return false' after infinite loops in filer_backup.go and filer_meta_backup.go
- Satisfies declared bool return type signatures
- Maintains consistency with other daemon functions (runMaster, runFilerSynchronize, runWorker)
- While unreachable, explicitly declares the return satisfies function signature contract

* fix: add nil check for onCompletionFn in SubscribeMessageRecord

- Check if onCompletionFn is not nil before calling it
- Prevents potential panic if nil function is passed
- Matches pattern used in other callback functions

* docs: clarify unreachable return statements in daemon functions

- Add comments documenting that return statements satisfy function signature
- Explains that these returns follow infinite loops and are unreachable
- Improves code clarity for future maintainers

shichanglin5 f5b0c04b14 perf: Optimized volume handling duplicateUUID logic to avoid quitting when volume is actualy normal
Under normal circumstances, there will be no problems, but when the
master is debugged in the local environment, the volume client cannot
communicate with the master normally, so the sendHeartBeat logic is
restarted, and a new connection is created to report the heartbeat. If
the master has not cleared the uuid of the volume at this time, then The
master will respond to volume duplicateUUIDS, and the volume service
will exit, but in fact the uuid of the volume is not duplicated
